LAKE COMO
HOLIDAY VILLA
Domaso
"Villa Perla del Lago" was built in around 1920 and has belonged to the landlord's family since 1950.
It is positioned in a splendid sunlit spot just above Domaso on the western side of Lake Como and offers its visitors a breathtaking full landscape view: on one side one can admire the top of the lake starting from the mouth of the affluent river Adda and on the other gaze southwards as far as Bellagio.
In 2011-2012 it was completely restructured but at the same time maintaining many of its original distinguishing characteristics and is now available (rentable) for short periods.
The villa is easy to reach along the provincial road where there is a car-park 50m from the residence or through a narrow road only suitable for economy cars which leads directly to the area surrounding the villa.
The recent restoration on the villa has preserved and partly refurbished the Liberty style which was typical of Lake Como’s villas at the beginning of the 1900s: the paintings on the walls and ceilings, the antique furniture of the bedrooms, the doors and the striking stone staircase. While maintaining this style we have tried to create a comfortable and functional setting and so the kitchen and bathroom are furnished with modern and practical items suitable for any need.
The 240 sqm villa built on two floors is reachable from the terrace on the ground floor however the loft is currently not in use. The kitchen is situated to the left of the entrance and is completely furnished and equipped with a kitchen table, dishwasher, five-ring cooker, oven, microwave oven, American fridge and everything needed in a kitchen. The sitting-room is to the right and has sofas one of which can become a double sofa-bed, Satellite-TV with international channels and a DVD player. The large terrace with a full view of the lake is accessible from both the kitchen and the sitting-room. Along a corridor there is access to one double bedroom which has a view to the garden and to one of the three modern bathrooms with shower, washbasin, toilet and washing machine.
A stone staircase leads to the upstairs floor where the other two bright and spacious bedrooms are situated, both with double beds one of which can be split to provide a twin room. Both of these rooms have a full view of the lake and the garden. In the hallway between the two bedrooms there is a small balcony from which one can admire the spectacular view.
The rooms each have their own en-suite bathrooms. Both bathrooms have a maxi-shower, washbasin, toilet and bidet
Thanks to its structure, the villa has an internal temperature cool in summer and warm in winter. Furthermore, the whole house is equipped with radiant floor heating.
The villa has a garden of about 500 sqm and a large and comfortable terrace of around 100 sqm both equipped with every comfort: a gazebo with table and chairs in wrought iron, a barbeque, a relaxing area with an 8x4m swimming-pool, loungers and outdoor shower. Here one can relax in the sun or in the shade and be carried away while on a dream holiday.
Via a pathway by the villa in five minutes one can reach Domaso situated below or Vercana which sits above. Domaso is a small typical lake town which provides pizzerias, restaurants, supermarkets, bars, ice-cream parlours and shops. By car, hydrofoil, bus or train one can easily get to Como, Lecco and Milan as well as the nearby Valtellina.
Sport-lovers can choose from several activities: windsurfing, kite-surfing, water-skiing, sailing, tennis and golf; otherwise one can take wonderful walks in the mountains or along the shores of the lake. Whoever just wants to relax will need nothing else: "Villa Perla del Lago" will satisfy the need for peace and quiet and, thanks to its position, the sun on Lake Como can be enjoyed from sunrise to sunset.

Our hosts met us on site and carried our luggage down to the Villa and they sent a list of their ‘places of interest to visit ‘ so no stone left unturned in making this a great break. “A truly delightful villa in an amazing position”
“This lovely villa has been beautifully and sympathetically restored with an eye to detail and makes for a perfect location in which to stay to explore Lake Como and surroundings. It is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owners, Romina and her husband, are really helpful and friendly and seek to assist with your happy holiday. It has wonderful views and a lovely covered area on the wide terrace from which to admire the scenery. Just down the hill is a welcoming small restaurant and there are many others in Domaso. A pearl indeed! (The approach to the villa is steep and not suitable for disabled people.)“

“Beautiful villa with outstanding views.”
“We have recently returned from a weeks holiday in this beautiful villa which has been very well renovated and decorated in true Italian style. It is very spacious, clean and the modern kitchen came fully equipped with everything you could possibly need ...and more! Romina and Fabio (the owners) even stocked the American style fridge/freezer and cupboards with some essentials, including a bottle of prosecco ! The views from the villa are breathtaking. The garden is very well maintained with a large lawn and terrace and with a more than adequate undercover dining area. The decking area was clean and sheltered. Fabio came early every morning to maintain the pool. Please be aware that the pool is solar heated and although we had good weather for September, the pool was very cold. The hot tub was a massive hit with our family. Who could not sit and relax in 40c with a chilled glass of wine and absorb the beautiful views of the lake (even in the rain)! We would highly recommend this villa and hope to return.”

Lake Como Travel Guide
Lake Como also known as Lario, is a lake of glacial origin. The lake shaped much like the character "Y" is the third largest lake in Italy (145 km2), 46km long and at an altitude of 199m above sea level. It is surrounded by mountains – the highest, rising above Colico, is Mount Legnone (2609m) - with many rivers flowing into it, the Adda river being the most important and its only affluent followed by the river Mera.
Owing to its variety of landscapes which make the lake region extremely fascinating, it was in the past the theme of many Romantic poets. Lake Como offers innumerable shades of colours: the teal-blue of its waters, the intense green of the forest covered mountains, the pure white of its snow-capped peaks, the gay colours of the houses which skirt the shores or the grey of the stone houses at the foot of the mountains ...
